In late August, the Weeknd shared that a follow-up to last year's After Hours would be wrapped up by the end of the month. Now, the artist has shared new that his forthcoming fifth studio album is finished.
Well, almost finished. Though the Weeknd did share yesterday on his Apple Music show Memento Mori (October 5) that the "album is complete," he was quick to point out that "there are still some additions to be made."
"Only thing missing is a couple characters that are key to the narrative," he revealed. "Some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child … and some that inspire me now." You can hear his updates below.
The Weeknd teased that there would be "more to come in the following months," and while he didn't set a release date for the After Hours follow-up, he did point to "some exciting features coming out in the fall before the album drops." Last month, the artist hinted at a team-up with Swedish House Mafia.
Previously, the Weeknd teased the beginning of a new chapter with single "Take My Breath." The working title of his fifth solo outing is The Dawn, and a GQ cover story previously characterized the effort as one packed with "Quincy Jones meets Giorgio Moroder meets the best-night-of-your-fucking-life party records."
