The Trews — like pretty much everyone else over the last year and change — just want to play. That's the theme of their new song, which is fittingly titled "I Wanna Play."
The track has arrived via a new music video that sees them rocking out on the ice in an empty FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton. You can watch it below.
"What rhymes with Global Pandemic? ... pathetic? prophetic?" the band's guitarist John-Angus MacDonald joked. "This is a song written and recorded for, during and about the strange, unusual and unprecedented time we all just lived through and the toll it took on our collective psyches. We Wanna Play!"
Singer Colin MacDonald added: "This is our song for the lonely in the strangest time in recent history. A musical longing for understanding, meaning and emotional release. It's also just a really catchy and anthemic rock JAM that we're all really excited about."
