Only a few years after returning N.E.R.D. to action, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are back at work as the Neptunes. While they can count JAY-Z, Clipse, Kelis and many more amongst their collaborators, Hugo has now revealed some potential additions to the production discography in a new interview.
Speaking with Clash, Hugo confirmed that he is back grindin' with Pharrell on new music, first revealing that the pair were at work on something for Lil Nas X ahead of namedropping more high-profile collaborators.
"I'm focusing on the Neptunes stuff, getting back on the Neptunes grind," Hugo explained. "We're doing a couple of things. There's a videogame soundtrack that's in the works right now that I can't speak about... We just did some work with Miley Cyrus, JAY-Z, Blink-182, Lil Uzi Vert, Brandy, Ray-J, Snoh Aalegra, G-Eazy…"
Hugo also mentioned recent work with Dua Lipa and Kaytranada. The latter recently had Pharrell contribute to his BUBBA album.
"He was in the studio, we vibed in the studio, we recorded a couple of things. I don't know if he used any of the sounds but I love his work and his DJ'ing," Hugo said of the Montreal-based Polaris Music Prize winner. "And Dua Lipa? Yeah, yeah. She was here. Pharrell saw that she was using the same studio so we recorded of couple of tracks. We're still working on those."
In March of last year, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker revealed the band had worked with Pharrell on new music prior to releasing their Nine LP in September.
