Though they bill themselves as a garage punk band, the Killer Wails' new video for "Too Many Bullet Holes" might lead you to think they're more likely to be jamming in a barn. The Toronto band's take on a Spaghetti Western-style revenge tale comes complete with all the necessities: revenge, a horse and a good ol' Canadian standoff.
Not only does the horse make sense thematically, but it fits in musically with the bursts of galloping guitars, which alternate with quieter strumming at a ratio of about 1:3 throughout the verses. Sure, the horse may be fairly docile, but we're getting the impression that's out of necessity, as shirtless frontman Tyler Brown likely doesn't have the wrangling abilities to trot around the snow.
Also out of necessity, the Canadian standoff, which replace the Western standard revolvers — thankfully in short supply up here — with a far colder projectile weapon: the snowball.
Perhaps revenge is a dish best served cold, after all. Take in the tale via the "Too Many Bullet Holes" video below.
