Hoping to go from "Tick Tick Boom" to "TNT," Hives vocalist Howlin' Pelle Almqvist has offered his services for ailing rockers AC/DC. The offer to help out on the mic comes just days after the Aussie outfit's longtime singer Brian Johnson received doctors orders to "stop touring immediately."
As previously reported, AC/DC recently scrapped a number of North American tour dates owing to Johnson being told by doctors that he could be risking total hearing loss if he steps back onstage. At the time, AC/DC said that the shows will be "made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist."
Almqvist issued a statement through the Hives' Facebook page yesterday (March 11), offering a helping hand, or howl, should AC/DC be interested. After offering best wishes to Johnson ("the man is a legend"), he started off his pitch with an all-caps: "HERE I AM."
His bid continues: "I have many many years of experience rocking the world's biggest stages and according to others I am the greatest frontman in rock, plus judging from the reaction in Australia your crowd already seems to really like me. Plus, I have already been singing those songs since I was 6 years old."
The "Highway to Hell" rockers have yet to respond to Howlin Pelle's, ahem, "Diabolic Scheme" to become their frontman.
