The Fiery Furnaces' Very Out-of-Print 'Blueberry Boat' Gets Vinyl Reissue

While eccentric indie duo the Fiery Furnaces may longer be with us, the project will be shining a light back on one of their finest moments. This spring, the band will be bringing their beloved Blueberry Boat back to vinyl.

The album originally arrived way back in 2004 via Rough Trade, marking the second full-length from Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger. Since the record's initial pressing, though, it has never been issued again on vinyl, with original copies now reaching way into the three-figure mark on sites such as Discogs.

According to a retail listing on the Rough Trade site, Blueberry Boat will now return to vinyl on May 18 as a 2-LP set. Right now, you can already pre-order it over here.

While there are currently no more details about the upcoming reissue, here's the original product description of the album to help refresh your memory:

The Fiery Furnaces return with a mind blowing album Blueberry Boat. Nothing on [2003's] Gallowsbird's Bark hints at the ambition of the Fiery Furnaces 76 minute second album. It's complex and twisted and full of retro guitars and garish prog keyboards. There are a few straightfoward pop tracks but they are stuck between the intense mini operas of the main cuts. It demands repeated listens and on each listen you'll discover new things. It's quite some trip.

The Fiery Furnaces have been on extended hiatus since 2011, with both Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger since going on to pursue solo careers. In fact, Eleanor Friedberger is releasing the new solo album Rebound on May 4 via Frenchkiss Records.
