The Callous Daoboys have shared blessed news of a new EP. The Atlanta, GA, seven-piece will share God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys on October 20 via MNRK Heavy / Modern Static Records.
Following last year's Exclaim! Staff Pick-certified Celebrity Therapist, God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys is said to dial up the chaos to make for the band's most experimental work yet. The three-song EP also features a collaboration with Virginia-based post-hardcore experimentalists pulses.
As vocalist Carson Pace shares, "In a way it feels like the band just started, even though we've been chipping away at it for the last six years. We want to be the defining band of this weirdo genre-swapping heavy music, where you can't put it under an umbrella. I think what's cool about it is it's just immediately like, 'Hey, fuck you, this is the Callous Daoboys!'"
"Waco Jesus" is the first of the EP's tracks to arrive, and you can watch its accompanying music video below. Pace explains that "'Waco Jesus' is about insecurity, projecting that insecurity and not doing anything to solve it regardless of how people are telling you to NOT be insecure. It's about being unable to take a compliment."
As previously reported, the Callous Daoboys will hit the road with Protest the Hero and Moon Tooth on a fall North American tour, with Canadian stops set for Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.
