Last December, Teyana Taylor hinted at her retirement from music, sharing how she felt "super under appreciated" and "overlooked" following the release of THE ALBUM. Though she clarified this April that the potential move may not be permanent, the announcement of a farewell tour appears to confirm her retirement from performance.
Today, Taylor has detailed "The Last Rose Petal" farewell tour, a 12-date North American trek that will bring her to Canada for a show at Toronto's new concert venue History on November 18. The artist noted on Instagram that more cities will be added to the itinerary.
"How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard," Taylor wrote in sharing the dates. "However for every goodbye God makes the next hello closer. Come out and watch me, leave it all out on the stage… One last time… Just for you & as my last rose petal falls, I say farewell."
Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, September 24, at 10 a.m. local time, while a pre-sale can be accessed tomorrow (September 23) using the password "FAREWELL."
Further ticketing details can be found through the tour's official website, and you can see the tour's current itinerary below.
Taylor wrote to listeners last December that "in times of feeling super under appreciated as a artist, receiving little to no real push from the 'machine,' constantly getting the shorter end of the stick, being overlooked … I'm retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that i can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world."
In April, Taylor further explained that her feelings came from biz-related burnout, telling BET's Sip 'N Smoke [via Complex], "At the end of the day, I'm a mom first. A mom, a wife, a woman. And I think for me, I put in a lot of work. I work very, very hard...And I felt like the label wasn't really hearing me and seeing me. I felt under appreciated. So, for my mental health, my mental well-being, for my kids, let me just put this on ice for a little [bit]. It's not that I retired permanently. It's more like, I just don't feel like I want to move another inch for a company."
Before releasing THE ALBUM last year, Taylor shared 2018 sophomore LP K.T.S.E., which was executive produced by Kanye West.
