A Textbook Tragedy

Intimidator

BY Dave SynyardPublished Mar 4, 2008

What happens when you take metal, hardcore and add a progressive slant with dual layered vocals? A Textbook Tragedy. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, these guys have been working their asses off since they formed in 2004 after high school, touring and then releasing A Partial Dialogue Between Ghost and Priest in 2005. With the addition of vocalist Chris Bahris, in conjunction with previous lead Kai Turmann, and the technical haymaker that is their musicianship, Intimidator is an elbow to the face that will leave any aggressive music fan with a bloodlust for more. "If You Want Blood…” shows the band’s base in hardcore but the seeds of technical development are also planted, demonstrating their desire to reach beyond. Things begin to blossom into a Dillinger-esque vine with the humorously titled "Dude, I’m On Alesse” and their roots are strengthened by subsequent song "Intimidator.” This album won’t give you one second to rest, constantly keeping your ears fixated on the prize.
