The Tea Party Roll Out Canadian Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 1, 2011

Following last month's speculation that Canadian rockers the Tea Party could make a killing were they to sell their domain name, Teaparty.com, to the right-wing U.S. political movement of the same name, the Ontario band have capitalized on the press by lining up a Canadian tour. But something tells us a different sort of fanatic will show up to their, uh, rallies.

The group, who reunited earlier this year following a seven-year sabbatical, will be kicking off their tour in mid-November with a pair of dates at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom and make their way across the country for a tour wrap-up gig in Hamilton, ON on December 3. The Reason will join the Tea Party on all dates.

Clearly affected by the recent press coverage, the trio have have called the impeding trip "No politics... Just Rock and Roll," a slogan that first popped up on their website.

"We were floored by the worldwide press and interest in our domain name Teaparty.com that soon followed the initial story in Bloomberg Businessweek," bassist Stuart Chatwood said in a statement. "After being overwhelmed by the multiple offers that were arriving daily, we thought it was prudent to seek out the best brokerage to help represent the band."

The Tea Party have yet to decide exactly what to do with their domain name.
