Disgorging Guttural Regurgitations

BY Denise FalzonPublished Jul 25, 2010

Vancouver, BC death metal/grindcore outfit Tard add a touch of humour to their ultra-aggressive ways, as they've come up with quite possibly the longest title ever for their latest release: Disgorging Guttural Regurgitations of Dismembered Disembowelment and Effluvious Visceral Entrail Secretions With a Side of Emaciated Malignant Lymphatic Putrescence, a Glass of Ensanguined Malodorous Discharge to Drink, and Coagulated Pustular Rectal Seepage for Dessert (With a Cherry on Top). Although unique and vulgar, what really makes the album is its sheer strength in both songwriting and execution. Not only are the 12 tracks a mess of grind eccentricity and death metal brutality, but each track is carried out with extreme musicianship and vicious attitude. The vocals, in particular, are quite stellar, with female vocalist Hilary Muff taking the reins with her masterful, unrelenting presence. It's too bad that she left the band following the release of Disgorging Guttural Regurgitations because she may be the most brutal female vocalist ever. Period. Her man-eating, larynx-shredding growls shine throughout the record and are more impressive than those of many male vocalists in the genre. Only time will tell if Tard's next release will be as strong without her.
