Tanya Tagaq has come forth with "Colonizer" and "Colonizer (Tundra Mix)" — a double-header single and the latest offering ahead of her forthcoming album Tongues.

The original version of "Colonizer" was a product of the artist's improvised live show, overlooking New York City's Columbus Circle while onstage with Nanook of the North in Manchester as a response to performing in colonial spaces.
"Oh, you're guilty," Tagaq sings. "It's not a question," she added in a press release.
"Colonizer (Tundra Mix)" came together in the studio as a collaboration between the singer-songwriter, album producer Saul Williams and Gonjasufi. Both iterations of the track represent the array of sounds Tongues will balance — between electronic and industrial, as well as poetic passages from Tagaq's 2018 book Split Tooth.
Tongues will mark the full-length follow-up to the Inuk experimentalist's 2016 album Retribution.
