Susanna Unveils New Album with Ensemble neoN

Norway's Susanna has released various albums over the years either as Susanna, Susanna Wallumrød or with the Magical Orchestra, and her next LP will find her re-exploring some of that work with experimental combo Ensemble neoN. Titled The Forester, the collaborative effort arrives September 17 via the newly formed SusannaSonata imprint.

A press release explains that the record features a mix of new songs and rearranged versions of previously released material, which blend her softened vocals with Ensemble neoN's "deceptively simple chamber-folk tapestry." The collection apparently showcases baroque woodwind and strings arrangements and Susanna's piano playing, with sonic touchstones including Kate Bush and Claude Debussy.

You can hear a reworked version of "Oh, I Am Stuck," a song that originally appeared on Susanna's 2012 solo set Wild Dog, down below.

Of the track, which has the singer detailing various forms of detainment, Susanna explained in a statement: "The feeling of being stuck in a situation is such a frustrating state of mind, but also a quite fascinating process to try and break the circle — right at the point where the paralyzation starts vanishing and the will to break loose sets in."
