Having just released their Kannon LP last month, distortion-drenched gloom gurus Sunn O))) have now revealed plans to reissue a live album that was instrumental in shaping their latest studio platter. A double-LP repress of 2008's Dømkirke drops February 5 via Southern Lord.
A press release explains that the collection had been recorded at Bergen, Norway's Borealis Festival in 2007, with guitarists Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley supported onstage by collaborators Attila Csihar (vocals), Tos Nieuwenhuizen (Moog), Lasse Marhaug (noise), and Steve Moore (organ, trombone).
Dømkirke comprises four pieces recorded that day at Bergen Cathedral, with each extended piece taking up a side of vinyl. While released eight years ago, it's added in a press release that "elements" from Dømkirke "spawned and inspired" what would eventually become Kannon.
Dømkirke:
1. Why Dost Thou Hide Thyself in Clouds?
2. Cannon
3. Cymatics
4. Masks the Ætmospheres
