Old Man Gloom mastermind Aaron Turner and Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn's Sumac project will reveal The Deal next week, but you can catch a skeleton- and psyche-shaking slab of gloom from the set right now via a stream of the oppressive yet atmospheric "Blight's Light Angel."
Turner takes control of the track early on with an echo-laden passage of haunted notes, but Yacyshyn comes in a couple minutes later with a steady thud. The two then proceed to bash things out via violent double kick work, gut-rumbling growls and discordant, damaged guitar lines.
The Deal lands February 3 through Profound Lore/SIGE Records. The band will also be out on a quick trip along the West Coast this March. You'll find both the song and the show info down below.
Tour dates:
03/11 Vancouver, BC - Biltmore Cabaret
03/12 Victoria, BC - Logan's Pub
03/13 Portland, OR - White Owl Social Club
03/14 Bellingham, WA - The Shakedown
03/15 Seattle, WA - Highline
