Street Pizza

Cancerous Planet

That horrible cover art is going to turn plenty of potential Street Pizza recruits away, which is a shame. This Richmond, VA band play a very no-frills take on power violence, bringing to mind Spazz or Man is the Bastard (the latter in their song-based moments). Street Pizza offer up 12 songs that bring the noisy grind ("All on the Road"), simple punk ("Pills") and traditional power violence ("Joke Bust"), finished and done in 19 minutes. This is like the seedy underbelly to more polished modern bands like Municipal Waste, a look into the ugly side of crossover, a glimpse of what life was like back in the heyday of Slap-a-Ham Records. And, you know what? Life was good, as this very cool EP proves.
