Following their 1993 debut Betti-Cola on Mint Records, Cub recorded a live session on the since-defunct CBC show Brave New Waves. Now, 25 years later, you can relive the glory of the young band's performance.
Featuring Neko Case on drums, alongside bassist/vocalist Lisa Marr and guitarist Robynn Iwata, the band found acclaim with their deceptively simplistic bubblegum-pop "cuddlecore" sound.
The trio ripped through tracks off their first LP like "Go Fish," "Little Star" and the Beat Happening cover of "Cast a Shadow" for the session, then hung around for an on-air interview.
Cub's Brave New Waves session was originally recorded in at the CBC's Montreal studios on May 19, 1993, and first broadcast in January of the following year.
It will be treated to a proper release on May 18 via Artoffact Records, but Exclaim! is giving you an early listen to the full recording right now. Give it a spin below.
