Stephen Malkmus Gets Animated in "Rushing the Acid Frat" Video

It's from his "rejected" electronic album 'Groove Denied'

Pavement indie-rock lifer Stephen Malkmus is gearing up for his new album Groove Denied, his so-called "rejected" electronic album. We're now getting another taste of it via the new track "Rushing the Acid Frat," which has arrived via an animated new video

To give you an idea where Malkmus is coming from on this one, a press release conveniently explains the following:

The song title, inspired by Stephen's memories of a specific student fraternity (think less beer-pong-bros, more "Grateful Dead druggy tie-dye" vibe) at his University of Virginia alma mater, is a "Louie Louie"-style shindig rumpus, which he imagines as the soundtrack to a "Star Wars bar scene in such a frat … it's kinda 12-bar but gigged with psych lyrics."

As for the actual video for "Rushing the Acid Frat," it was created by Robert Strange, the visual artist of Superorganism. As you'll witness, it features an animated Malkmus taking a seriously trippy walk around L.A. and far, far beyond.

Check out the clip to "Rushing the Acid Frat" below. The track follows the previously shared "Viktor Borgia."

Groove Denied — the follow-up to last year's Sparkle Hardarrives on March 15 via Matador. As previously reported, Malkmus has some North American tour dates coming up, and you can see those here.
