Stars' Torquil Campbell Releases New Album as Dead Child Star

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 6, 2011

Back in 2009, Stars frontman Torquil Campbell announced that he had started a side-project called Dead Child Star, a collaborative band featuring contributions from an array of Canadian indie rockers. Soon after, Campbell turned his attentions away from the project, releasing The Five Ghosts with Stars last June. Now, Campbell has finally returned to the side-project and unveiled its debut full-length.

The LP is called Cold Hands, Warm Heart, and it's available now from Stars' website. It's nine songs long and a digital download costs $6.99. Among the musicians who appear on the collection are Julian Brown (Apostle of Hustle), Andrew Whiteman (Apostle of Hustle, Broken Social Scene), Jimmy Shaw (Metric) and Minotaur Shock.

See the tracklist below and the album cover above. You can preview the songs here or at MySpace. If you're looking for a band that sounds even more passive than Stars' sweetly sensitive indie pop, then you're in luck.

Cold Hands, Warm Heart:

1. "A Dead Child Star Is Born"
2. "No One Is Born to Be Lonely"
3. "Airport Life"
4. "Natural Kind of Joy"
5. "Seagulls Screaming Kiss Her, Kiss Her"
6. "London Fields"
7. "This Is Easy"
8. "You Make a Fool of Me"
9. "Slow Children"
