Spotify has reportedly removed roughly 70 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience as of Friday (February 4) apparently due to the program's use of racial slurs and derogatory language, according to CNET.
Though it remains unclear when the takedowns began, JREMissing shows several absent episodes following criticism from numerous artists including India.Arie, who spoke out against Rogan this week over numerous instances in which he used the n-word on his podcast, noting that Rogan "shouldn't even be uttering the word. Don't even say it, under any context. Don't say it."
Recently, Rogan and Spotify also faced criticism from Neil Young and his Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young bandmates, as well as Joni Mitchell for issues concerning "COVID disinformation."
This week, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek defended the continued platforming of Rogan's podcast, saying, "we don't change our policies based on one creator nor do we change it based on any media cycle, or calls from anyone else."
Meanwhile, former Mumford & Sons banjoist/hedge fund baby Winston Marshall took to his newfound right-wing newsletter-writing gig to further whinge about "censorship" of "artists" like Rogan.
