This likely won't be music to your ears: Spotify has announced it's raising the price of its Premium subscription tiers.
Today, the streaming giant announced plans to hike the monthly cost of its Premium prices in a series of countries around the globe, including Canada and the US.
While the company's official announcement only highlights new prices for the US, MobileSyrup has confirmed how the increase will affect billing in Canada.
In Canada, the price of Spotify's Premium Single subscription tier has increased by a dollar. Now sitting at $10.99 per month, its monthly cost is now the same as competitor Apple Music.
Spotify's Premium Duo subscription tier will now cost $14.99 per month, now up from $12.99 monthly. The company's Premium Family and Student subscription rates have also gone up by a dollar, rising to a monthly rate of $16.99 and $5.99, respectively.
Spotify says the price hike has come in order for the company to "keep innovating" and "deliver value to fans and artists" — boilerplate claims you can check out here.
