Spoek Mathambo Announces North American Dates, Plays Montreal, Toronto

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 31, 2012

Following a much-hyped and well-received performance at CMW in March that had Exclaim! describe him as an "uncontrollable ball of energy," South African DJ/rapper Spoek Mathambo has announced he will be making his way back to Canada on his North American tour this summer.

Despite a few sporadic gigs, this will be Mathambo's first lengthy North American trek, and it sees him travelling the continent for two weeks. The 11-show spree, which will be in support of his recent sophomore effort Father Creeper, has him hitting up Canada twice. First up is a July 15 performance at Montreal's SAT club as part of the Festival International Nuits d' Afrique, and he'll return to Toronto the next night for a show at Wrongbar.
