In September, Spiritualized's Jason Pierce shared that a new album could arrive in 2022, and he's now shared details of the group's ninth LP. New effort Everything Was Beautiful arrives April 22 via Fat Possum.
Following 2018's And Nothing Hurt, Everything Was Beautiful was recorded by Pierce and over 30 musicians and singers across 11 different studios, as well as his home. Those aforementioned collaborators include his daughter Poppy, John Coxon, string and brass sections, choirs and more.
Opener "Always Together with You" is the first song to arrive from the record, and is a reworking of a song first shared as a demo in 2014.
In a statement, Pierce shared of the new album, "There was so much information on it that the slightest move would unbalance it, but going around in circles is important to me. Not like you're spiralling out of control but you're going around and around and on each revolution you hold onto the good each time. Sure, you get mistakes as well, but you hold on to some of those too and that's how you kind of… achieve. Well, you get there."
Spiritualized's recent "Spaceman Reissue Program" brought the band's first four albums back to wax with "definitive vinyl editions." Next year's tour plans have the band visiting Vancouver in April for a date at the Commodore Ballroom, and you can find that itinerary below.
