The musical comedy forefathers in Spinal Tap have announced that they'll be heading out on a reunion tour to celebrate 25 years of cult classic film This Is Spinal Tap. The six-week tour kicks off in Vancouver on April 17 and will include another Canadian stop in Toronto on May 21.
In a long press release, the trio of Michael McKean (aka David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (aka Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (aka Derek Smalls) revealed that they will be touring without any of their wigs or makeup, instead focusing on the music of Spinal Tap and their A Mighty Wind alter-egos: the Folksmen. "Primarily, we're doing the trio tour because it's so easy," McKean said. "We just have these wooden instruments and we don't have to wear things on our heads. Well... you know, unless we're playing a temple or something, or a mosque." Hopefully their wit will make up for the lack of Stonehenge sets and spontaneously combusting drummers.
As we previously reported, Spinal Tap will also be releasing a new album on May 26 that will include old rarities and new material.
