If what you want (what you really really want) is a Spice Girls reunion, you may be in luck. Mel B (a.k.a. Scary Spice) has revealed that the iconic girl group are up to something that's coming "pretty soon."
While she didn't specify exactly what the Spice Girls have up their sleeves, she told The Sun that a new project is in the works. "We are planning on releasing a statement," she explained.
She continued: "What that is, I can't say right now because we're just finishing off perfecting what we're going to be doing together, all five of us, but it's going to be something that the fans are really going to love."
Though the band went on a UK stadium tour in 2019, they were notably not joined by Miss Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham. Mel B said Beckham never had to be convinced to come back, it was just a matter of her having the time to commit to the project:
Well, it's not even about convincing her. I mean, she dressed me and my mum for when I got my MBE, so we've kind of always been in contact. It's not like none of us are speaking together, we've all got a group WhatsApp, but it's just about timing. She was really busy doing her fashion line and supporting David with his moves and his career and obviously she's got a bunch of kids so it's just about finding the right time and we've managed to do that, so there should be an announcement pretty soon.
The last time all five Spice Girls shared the stage was at the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012. In 2021, they released a 25th-anniversary edition of their chart-topping debut, Spice.
