Vancouver's Soulscar is currently one of Canada's best indie metal acts. Combining the excellent Gothenburg melodies of their last release, Abandoned, with a sudden left turn into classic thrash, these three songs will get all heads banging. Catchy melodies, smart riffing and memorable songs are the order of the day, all brought together under a bizarre, crunchy and hindering production sound, courtesy of Annihilator's Jeff Waters. It's worth digging through the fuzzy layers of sound though, as the songs are true metal gems, each carrying the key factors that too many bands ignore: they are catchy, intelligent and brief enough to leave you wanting more, yet satisfied that you've heard a good tune.
