Building off of 2014's Mistakes, Montreal garage crew Sonic Avenues are set to explore all sorts of sonic possibilities with their next release, Disconnector. You can plug into the punky sounds of their fourth full-length effort on October 7 via Blow the Fuse in Canada and on Dirtnap in the U.S.
Though the outfit last offered up a re-released and expanded version of their self-titled album, Disconnector marks the first album of new material since Mistakes. The new record was cut this past winter by Adrian Popovich and Sonic Avenue vocalist/guitarist Maxime Desharnais at Montreal's Mountain City and Sound Salvation Studios.
While said to still feature "fast, noisy, fuzzed-out singalongs," the foursome apparently wanted to get "as far away possible from a formula of creative comfort" for discomfort. It's not yet been explained fully, but the record apparently has the outfit experimenting with instrumentation, as well as tempo and feel.
From a lyrical standpoint, themes Desharmais is working with this time around include "future and destiny, human potential and its annihilation, self-control, [and] abandon."
