Solange has cancelled several live performances this year, and now she has revealed that she is battling health issues. The singer had been due to play Afropunk Festival on New Year's Eve in Johannesburg, South Africa, but she cancelled the gig and posted an Instagram message explaining that she is battling an autonomic disorder.
She revealed that her symptoms fluctuate from day to day and wrote, "My doctors are not clearing me for such an extended lengthy flight, and doing a rigorous show right after." She's apparently been battling the illness for five months.
"It been a journey that hasn't been easy on me… Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all," she wrote.
It's unclear from her message how many of her other 2017 cancellations were due to her health struggles. Her appearance at Tallahassee, FL's FSU Warchant was nixed due to "a medical condition," and a prior cancellation at Osheaga in Montreal was called off due to "unforeseen production issues out of her and the festival's control." A spring gig at Boston Calling was similarly cancelled because of "production delays and complications beyond her control."
