Soft Cell Detail Their First New Album in 20 Years

'*Happiness Not Included' will arrive next year

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jul 28, 2021

Soft Cell have just announced their first album of new material in two decades. Called *Happiness Not Included, the asterisk-featuring album by the Classic UK synth-pop duo will arrive in spring 2022 via BMG.

The album will mark the follow-up to 2002's Cruelty Without Beauty. And while the exact release date for the upcoming record has yet to be unveiled, you can check out the album art above and tracklist below.

In a statement, Soft Cell's Marc Almond said:

In this album I wanted to look at us as a society: a place where we have chosen to put profits before people, money before morality and decency, food before the rights of animals, fanaticism before fairness and our own trivial comforts before the unspeakable agonies of others. But in the album there is also a belief that there is a utopia if we can peel back the layers and understand what really matters.

Soft Cell first leaked word about their comeback album this spring, and they released the single "Northern Lights" back in 2018.

In addition to the album announce, Soft Cell have some UK tour dates coming up, and you can find those below, along with an album trailer.
