Slowdive Officially Reunite

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 28, 2014

Earlier this month, reunion rumours started swirling when defunct shoegaze act Slowdive launched an official Twitter account and began a day-by-day countdown. Now, to the surprise of almost no one, they have announced that they are reuniting.

Today (January 28), the aforementioned countdown culminated in the news that Slowdive will perform at Barcelona's newly announced Primavera Sound festival, which runs from May 29 to 31.

While this is currently the only confirmed show, more reunion gigs will presumably be announced in due course, since the band tweeted, "More info and announcements to follow."

In the meantime, see their new website here.

Slowdive issued three albums plus a handful of smaller releases in the early-mid '90s. They subsequently morphed into the more folksy Mojave 3, whose most recent album was back in 2006.

As for Primavera, it will also feature a heap of other notable acts, including Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, Kendrick Lamar, Chvrches, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sky Ferreira, the National, Queens of the Stone Age, Television, Volcano Choir, St. Vincent,  Julia Holter, Angel Olsen, Cloud Nothings, Darkside, the Julie Ruin, Body/Head, Earl Sweatshirt, Blood Orange, Deafheaven, the Haxan Cloak, Disclosure,  Majical Cloudz, Caetano Veloso, Shellac, Dum Dum Girls, Speedy Ortiz, and Holy Ghost!, among others.
