Slipknot have parted ways with longtime member Chris Fehn in the wake of reports that percussionist was suing his bandmates over proper financial compensation.
"Slipknot's focus is on making album #6, and our upcoming shows around the world, our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot," the band wrote in a statement on their website. "We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to continue to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life."
A report published by The Blast last week alleged that Fehn filed a lawsuit against his then-bandmates alleging he hadn't been received fair compensation from touring and merchandise sales.
The percussionist, who had been performing with Slipknot since 1998, alleged that other group members had set up Slipknot-affiliated business entities outside their home state of Iowa. Fehn stated he had never received payment from the separate companies.
After news of the lawsuit broke, vocalist Corey Taylor took to Twitter and wrote, "You're gonna read a lot of bullshit today. This is all I'll say. JUST YOU WAIT TIL THE TRUTH COMES OUT. Long Live The Knot."
Fehn exits Slipknot in a year where the group are expected to deliver a new full-length album. They also recently mapped out a North American tour, which you can find dates for here.
