After having recently announced the forthcoming Trash Object EP from his dream-pop project Heavy Steps, Vancouver indie entrepreneur Chris van der Laan has revealed he's also about to issue a new tape from his Slim Fathers through his Boat Dreams From the Hill imprint. The quintet's Goldie Hawn in the Blue Light will be delivered July 29, but you can catch distorted preview "To B. Curtain" a week ahead of time.
The track features a minimalist, military rumble from van der Laan, paired here with in-the-red bass work from Tom Hillifer and a tapestry of psychedelic, interlocking six-string lines from Dann Tompkins and Mark Colavecchia. Vocalist Courtney Christine Ewan delivers her lines a little less countrified than in her other project, Twin River, instead adapting the pacing of '60s pop track "I Will Follow Him" over a noodly post-hardcore crunch.
You'll find the ambitious track down below.
