Sleepless Nights

'Keith Hamilton' (EP stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 7, 2017

Members of Halifax's Sleepless Nights have gone on to put music out under monikers like AA Wallace, Quiet Parade and Kuato, but they've pulled back together to put out a new EP.

Keith Hamilton marks the band's first release since their "final" tour back in 2009. They attempted to reconvene in 2011 to capture a few new songs to record, but nothing ever materialized — until now.

The new four-song EP features cuts that were recorded in Toronto last June at Taurus Studios in Toronto with producer Thomas D'Arcy.

The EP's title references an old friend of the band, whom they don't hesitate to label an unofficial member of the group. A Toronto music scene vet, Keith Hamilton booked Sleepless Nights their first gig outside the Maritimes and toured alongside the group as part of acts like the Postage Stamps, the Diableros, Hamilton Tradition Company and Beams.

"Keith is our undeserved secret weapon," bandleader Aaron Wallace says. "He's our Bez. He's the DJ Khaled of indie rock. He's a fashion icon to future generations."
