Calgary's annual music, arts and film festival Sled Island is set to unpack its 11th edition this summer. We'd already learned about guest curator Flying Lotus and the fest's initial lineup, but today (April 11) programmers have significantly expanded on their bookings.
Added acts include DJ Quik, MONO, Shonen Knife, Jimmy Edgar, Mike Watt + the Missingmen, Guitar Wolf, DIANA, Simply Saucer, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, OZZIE, Meatbodies, Pinkish Black, Les Filles de Illighadad, Uniform, Mrs. Magician, American Lips and Half Waif.
Flying Lotus's curatorial choices include DJ Quik, alongside Seven Davis Jr, Yves Tumor, Dedekind Cut, Ash Koosha and Tierra Wack.
Other artists announced include ANAMAI, Expanda Fuzz, Faith Healer, Fake Palms, Feminal Fluids, FRIGS, Isaac Rother & the Phantoms, JLK & the Assassins, Jo Passed, Jock Tears, Living Hour, Man Meat, Marlaena Moore, Mauno, Needles//Pins, No More Moments, Porcelain Raft, Protruders, respectfulchild, SIANspheric, Sightlines, Silver Dapple, the Avulsions, the Sorority, Un Blonde, and WASIU.
Further, Sled has announced a handful of local acts playing the fest, including Crims & Flow, Crystal Eyes, FOONYAP, Gawker, Lab Coast, Leather Jacuzzi, Melted Mirror, Sinzere and Soft Cure.
All of these acts join previously announced artists like Converge, Silver Apples, Low, Waxahatchee, Cloud Nothings, Wolves in the Throne Room, Weyes Blood, Hailu Mergia, Daughters, Land of Talk, Thor & Friends, Ex Eye, Mothers, King Woman, and New Fries.
