Sleater-Kinney are the latest touring act to have to cancel performances due to health concerns, with Carrie Brownstein currently recovering from a chest infection. In addition to pulling out of shows in Wilmington, NC, and New Haven, CT, earlier this week, the band have announced the cancellation of their remaining East Coast dates: a concert in Buffalo, NY, tonight (August 1), as well as Canadian gigs in Montreal (August 2) and Toronto (August 3).

"Hey everyone. It's with deep sadness and regret that we must cancel the next few shows," Brownstein wrote on Sleater-Kinney's Instagram. "I have a chest infection that is making singing/performing difficult, an infection my doctor is worried will worsen and progress unless I stop touring and take the time to rest and recover. The plan is to resume as scheduled in Portland on August 7th."

She continued, "Apologies to my loyal bandmates, our tireless crew, and the best fans in the world, who travel from just down the road to across state lines to see us. As I said the other night in Pittsburgh, despite the rough and ragged nature of tour, when you step on stage, it's all worth it, and you remember why you do this. Occasionally, however, one has to step back momentarily, as those future moments on stage — or any future moments, really — are never guaranteed and cannot be taken for granted."

Refunds for the band's headlining shows will be processed automatically. Brownstein noted that the cancelled dates have not been rescheduled at this time, "but we will update you if that changes."

Dominic Fike has dropped out of his Osheaga and Lollapalooza performances this weekend due to unspecified health reasons, while Sum 41 have cancelled several Canadian shows due to a back injury.
