Pop singer Sky Ferreira's album Masochism was supposed to come out back in 2015, but well over two years since it was announced, the LP still hasn't arrived. Meanwhile, she has kept fairly busy with her acting career, and this includes appearing in the recent crime film Baby Driver. She contributed a cover of the Commodores' 1977 track "Easy" for the film's soundtrack, and this tune has now received a video.
The song is a touching, elegant number that begins as a simple guitar-and-voice ballad before gradually building with drums, bass, backing vocals and climactic guitar leads. It's an effective update on the smooth soul-pop of the original Motown version that doesn't divert too much from the source material.
The accompanying video is largely made up of footage from the movie (including scenes featuring Ferreira herself). This is intercut with shots of the singer performing the song in-studio.
Watch the clip below. With any luck, this will soon be followed by some news about Masochism.
