Drop-tuned Quicksand chug meets Fishbone and Asian Dub Foundation (dancehall nu-metal, anyone?) on the debut from Britain's Skindred. With the serious and sincere West Indian influence of singer Benji Webbe throwing down on top of chugging mid-riffery and utilising the production talents of a team that has worked with POD and Incubus, this is a polished (maybe a little too much) and effective disc filled with infectious grooves and some genuinely imaginative guitar noodling. Not to mention a laid back, ska version of "London Calling" with new lyrics to complement the new vibe. Sort of like 311 but way heavier.
