Ahmed Gallab will still be going by the Sinkane moniker when he issues his sophomore LP Mean Love next month, but the artist is exploring identity-shifting themes in his latest single for the set, "New Name."
The track presents an airy assortment of synth textures, but simmers a spicy Afrobeat shuffle and blaring, percussive horn blasts beneath it all. Sinkane's vocals run buttery on the track as he details both his determination to learn someone's new title ("a name I wanna know") and the other's determination to "hear it said aloud."
You can check out the track down below via the New York Times.
Mean Love arrives September 2 through DFA Records.
