Silver Jews to Reportedly Return in 2019 as Purple Mountains

Or at least that's according to Bob Nastanovich

While we've heard this one before, David Berman's long-absent Silver Jews are apparently plotting a comeback. According to Pavement/Silver Jews member Bob Nastanovich, Berman is returning to music next year with a new album, though apparently under a new moniker.

During the new episode of the 3 Songs Podcast, Nastanovich made the reveal, saying, "I'm pleased to announce that my buddy David Berman is gonna put out in 2019 his first recorded output in a little over a decade."

However, he quickly explained, "The band's not gonna be called Silver Jews anymore. It's gonna be called Purple Mountains."

According to Nastanovich, the record will arrive via Drag City. It should also be noted that Purple Mountains is also the name of Berman's blog.

You can listen to the podcast below, with the announcement coming at around the 58:00 mark.

Silver Jews' last album remains 2009's Lookout Mountain Lookout Sea. So while the prospect of new musical material from Berman no doubt excites fans, you may want to take the news with a grain of salt. After all, Nastonovich teased a Silver Jews reunion way back in 2015, only for that those rumours to then quickly fizzle out and be called nothing but a "prank" by Berman himself.
