Sia Responds to Paedophilia Claims in "Elastic Heart" Video
In the clip, Shia LaBeouf and "Chandelier" video dancer Maddie Ziegler deliver an intense choreographed dance number, set in a giant cage with both performers clad in barely-there, nude-coloured, spandex ensembles.
It prompted some negative feedback and even accusations of paedophilia, given the suggestive nature of the dance routine — and the fact that LaBeouf is 30 and Ziegler is 12.
Sia took to Twitter to clear up the misunderstanding and apologize to those offended and affected by the clip. She explained that the two dancers are meant to represent two warring sides of herself and she felt that the dancers selected were the right choice, though she didn't intend to make anyone feel "triggered" or upset.
I anticipated some 'pedophelia!!!' Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play— sia (@Sia) January 8, 2015

I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody. 🙏— sia (@Sia) January 8, 2015
