Shooting at Unarmed Men

Soon There Will be Shooting at Unarmed Men

When the disbanding of Mclusky was announced earlier this year, punk turkeys were left wondering where to turn for a quality musical lampoon. The answer seems to be the first post-Mclusky project featuring ex-bassist (now guitarist) Jon Chapple. He continues to favour the high volume, atonal approach, but adds an element that Mclusky seemed to have been hinting at towards the end — a nascent tunefulness. Lo-fi, loud and heavily accented, Shooting at Unarmed Men often reproduce some of those lovely moments in early Wire records where pop mingles with menace in massively contradictory, but interesting ways.
