We weren't sure when we would be hearing from the Shins again, given that frontman James Mercer has spent the last couple of years busy with Broken Bells and the occasional solo turn. Well, the wait is almost over.
At a recent solo show with drummer Joe Plummer, Mercer revealed that the band are working on a new record. He also offered up a new untitled Shins song, which you can hear below. It's a soft tune with high, poignant vocals and melancholic lyrics -- in other words, it sounds like the Shins.
In other Shins news, the band will be playing at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival in August -- their first live performance in two years.
