Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes recently joined forces with TOY and producer Dan Carey to form a new project called Sexwitch, and with a self-titled collection due out on Friday (September 25) through Echo/BMG, the entire thing can be streamed ahead of time.
The album is made up of six covers of '70s psych and folk songs. Even though the material isn't original, most people probably won't be familiar with the songs, which were chosen from around the world. The results include the hypnotically percussive chants of the Moroccan "Ha Howa Ha Howa," the angular bass grooves of the Iranian "Helelyos" and the ominous psych rock of the American "War in Peace."
