Serj Tankian Scoring New 'Morning Star' Videogame

When System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian announced his Harakiri album earlier this year, he revealed that he had three more new albums in the works. Now, the busy songwriter has announced yet another new project in the form of a videogame score.

Tankian is writing the music for the futuristic shooter Morning Star, which will be released for iOS devices in spring of 2013 via Industrial Toys.

He said in a statement, "I'm really enjoying working on Morning Star because it gives me the ability to create new musical worlds to complement the new visual worlds in the game. Though most of the gameplay will be action-oriented cues, the stunning artwork and static scenes have inspired unique sounds unheard before."

The game is set 120 years in the future, as humans go on a deep space mission to research a mysterious signal coming from within our solar system. A press release explains, "Tankian's accompanying musical score provides the thrilling musical backdrop as players are transported across the cosmos to engage in an epic battle for the ages."

This isn't the first time Tankian has written music for a videogame. Back in 2007, his music appeared in the shooter Stranglehold.
