After dropping their critically orgasmic self-titled debut nearly five years ago, Norwegian shoegazers Serena Maneesh have been almost downright cruel to their fans, offering very little in terms of new material. In fact, the only other release they've been responsible for since then is 2008's rarities collection, S-M Backwards. Thankfully, that's about to change, as the band have announced they'll have a new album on a new label in 2010.
The record doesn't have a name yet but it's expected in March 2010 from venerable UK label 4AD. In an interview with Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet [via Brooklyn Vegan], front-man Emil Nikolaisen expressed his excitement working with the label. "Had anyone asked me which label I'd rather be signed to, my answer would definitely be 4AD," he said. "What's really positive about this is 4AD's strong position - the label represents a kind of musical bloodline that we're now a part of. We're the latest addition to a long and rich tradition."
In the meantime, the band have a few European tour dates lined up, as well as an appearance at the My Bloody Valentine-curated All Tomorrow's Parties "Nightmare Before Christmas" in December.
