Scottish hardcore act Sectioned set out to make a statement on their debut album, Annihilated. The noisy metal band aren't messing around when it comes to making a lasting impression, unleashing an onslaught of devastating breakdowns, squealing feedback and vicious riffs. Annihilated combines the technical dissonance of the Dillinger Escape Plan and the raw tones of Converge into one violent force.

The title track begins the record with a sharp punch of feedback followed by the band pulverizing listeners with harsh noise and beatdowns riffs. They continue their savage beatdown at breakneck speeds on tracks such as "Synchronicity" and "Toothgrinder." Songs like "Portrait" and "Victorious, Neverending" bring some technicality into play, while the band experiment with grooves and heavier noise elements on "Betrayer" and "Eigengrau."

The record doesn't allow for much of a breather at any point, continuously bashing out riff after riff, but stands as a well-crafted piece of dissonant hardcore. Annihilated is a non-stop assault, unforgiving in its delivery and built to shatter eardrums.
