In recent months, Seapony have been causing a stir in the blogosphere with their twee take on lo-fi indie pop. Now, the Seattle trio have scored a record deal with Hardly Art and will release their debut full-length on May 31.
The LP is called Go with Me. It carries on in the same minimal vein as last year's well-received "Dreaming" single, and a press release reveals, "Most songs on Go with Me use no more than three chords, with an average running time around two-and-a-half minutes."
All of the drums sounds were created with a vintage Alesis HR-16 drum machine. Songwriter Danny Rowland explains, "Drums are too loud. Plus I don't like the sound of the crash. It can get in the way." The PR also adds that the record will feature "fuzz-drenched guitar playing simple chord progressions, topped with concise melodic hooks and [singer] Jen [Weidl]'s breathy vocals."
Before the full-length arrives in stores, Hardly Art will reissue "Dreaming" as a digital-only single on March 15. It features two B-sides: "So Low" and "Late Summer." You can download "Dreaming" for free right here.
