Saviours

Crucifire

VENOM!!! Listen closely enough and you can hear these guys yelling out calls to Cronos as they spin Black Metal yet again. Clearly new and not quite established in their sonic styling, listening to Saviours is like playing a rousing game of "Name That Influence.” Still, it’s one hell of a lot of fun. With songs ranging from the droning bleakness/occult fascination of Black Sabbath ("Crucifire”) to an Iron Giant-inspired beefy groove metal complex that rears its ugly head on "Rise To Pyramid Form,” there’s very little about this album that dictates any degree of originality. But once again, adoration for the scene from which they pilfer and an impressive degree of technical ability make for a doom metal feast that’s kind of creepy in its upbeat manner.
