3D signifies the three different levels to the latest compilation in the Renaissance series — three very different collections put together by Japanese DJ Satoshi Tomiie. From Manhattan’s Def Mix operations to running his label SAW to spinning at clubs and parties around the world, Tomiie has built both a solid reputation and a fan base. 3D segregates the musical life of the DJ into the categories of "Club,” "Studio” and "Home” — titles as appropriate as they are uninspired. Perhaps because of Satoshi’s extensive production and remix experience, the "Studio” disc eclipses the "Club” mix with seven of the remixes exclusive to the album including music from Kosheen, Hybrid and FSOL. The "Home” disc is a peek into Tomiie’s private music collection and there are some treasures here too from legendary artists such as Jaco Pastorius, Roy Ayers and Lonnie Liston Smith.
