Saskatchewan's Trifecta Collective Details 2017 Block Party Event

Having showcased the strength of their local scene throughout Europe and the UK earlier this year, Saskatchewan artist collective Trifecta are setting their sights on home this August with the announcement of a new flagship event.

The collective, which includes DGS Samurai Champs, LOA and more, will host the Trifecta Block Party in downtown Saskatoon from August 24 to 26. The free event will put the spotlight on artists both inside and out of Trifecta in three different venues.

The Block Party's first evening (August 24) finds LOA, XANA, Saul & Reid and Andrea An at Flint Saloon alongside DJs Tefrondon and Gee. The focus then shifts to hip-hop the next night, with DGS Samurai Champs, the WrongKrowd, WEARELABRATS and Broc $teezy taking the stage at Belvedere Treehouse (O'Brians Event Centre) alongside Tefrondon and Kidalgo. The final evening brings the festivities to Congress Beer House for a DJ set from VBRTR.

"When Trifecta began as a free, outdoor multi-genre arts and culture festival in 2014, its sole intent was to highlight our province's artists who didn't fit into SK's majority genres of country, rock, and folk," Trifecta artistic director Marvin Chan tells Exclaim!. "Now, since expanding to our year-round concert series and full-fledged artist collective, our efforts still revolve around showcasing "niche" genre artists within our province, but also focus on bringing the new sounds of Saskatchewan's hip-hop, electronic, and R&B scenes to the rest of the world."
